“Hey Harri!” aims to bring refreshing, fun music to young musicians. We want to support and encourage the diversity in our society through multi-cultural sharing and opportunities for self-expression. We believe music is a great way to bring people together, and also a wonderful confidence-builder for people of all ages and walks of life. All our music is written by our founder Harri, with many of the works being collaborations with locally and internationally esteemed artists as well as with young music students.

Harri Harding is an Australian composer, performer and educator who travels the world with his music. He has worked with artists such as Hermitude, Milan Ring, Urthboy and OKENYO. Harri has started a big band in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, run music workshops in Palestinian refugee camps, played in Peruvian reggae bars and spent time as International Visiting Scholar at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. Back home in Sydney, Harri co-founded Sirens Big Band, a 17 piece all female and trans big band, and runs exciting music programs in a number of schools including Newtown Primary School, where he has been composer-in-residence and band director since 2010. Harri studied music composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with minor studies in Arabic language and pedagogy, and has also specialised in the studies of Arabic and Ethiopian music in Palestine and Ethiopia with Sameh Asad, Ali Hasanein and Feleke Hailu.

Harri is passionate about sharing his love of music, in particular composition and improvisation, with the next generation of musicians both in Australia and worldwide. Harri has been recognised with the Zavod composition award, JRMA award, the Pinnacle Scholarship, Sydney Youth Orchestra scholarship and the competitive ArtStart grant. His works have been played by ensembles throughout Sydney and internationally, including the acceptance of his work "One Day" into the repertoire of the Carl Von Ossietzky University award in Germany.
